Astrobiology Course
Astrobiology (MCB 3703) is offered by the Department of Microbiology and Cell Science at the University of Florida that examines the origin, evolution, and future of life in our solar system and beyond. Astrobiology is taught as a hybrid class that includes traditional in-person and distance learning lectures.
Building Science Skills
These podcasts and activity sets aim to develop students’ critical thinking skills in science. One podcast targets the primary scientific literature providing undergraduate and graduate students with an introduction on how to read and get the most out of scientific papers. The second podcast includes an activity to practice and develop skills in scientific inquiry… in other words… how to ask the right question in science.
K-12 & Public Outreach
As a member of the faculty at UF and with a research lab at the Kennedy Space Center, I have a unique opportunity to participate in a wide range of educational outreach activities through NASA and the University of Florida. It is my opinion that as scientists we have an obligation to help facilitate the public’s understanding of the on-going advances in science and technology.
